Video-based Vehicle Speed Measurement

An automatic vehicle speed measurement system developed for detecting speeding violations in urban areas. The system uses a video stream from a traffic monitoring camera to estimate the speed of passing vehicles and detect and store those exceeding the speed limit. This project started as my MSc thesis and after graduation, it was undertaken as an independent research initiative to GSTP business incubator, where it proposed a commercial product for municipalities. The results were published in the papers referenced below:
